LEED v4 Operations and Maintenance: Transit Guidance

LEED version: v4

LEED v4 Operations and Maintenance: Transit is the result of a collaboration between USGBC, GBCI and DMRC. It is a system that will help implement appropriate adaptations and regional approaches to incorporate the unique needs of metro installations and mass rapid transit systems for metro stations and depots within the LEED green building rating system.

LEED enables better-performing metro stations across India; metro stations that will save energy, water and other precious resources as well as save money in reduced operating costs – a savings that will be passed down to metro riders. Eventually this system will expand to metro stations and transits around the world as we aspire to take it global, in line with LEED’s global applicability. Because transit reduces the impact of individual travel by moving many people at the same time, the associated reduction in vehicle distance traveled, energy used, congestion and air pollution along with density of the surrounding area inherently improves the sustainability of cities.

This user guide provides the content of both the prerequisites and performance score required for certification of existing and operational transit. The user guide has step-by-step information on what project information to obtain and how to submit it for review and certification. The guidance applies to transit only and some terms may be modified to be specific to transit and are not used in the LEED v4 O+M rating system.
